Real pages from the 2026.2 edition, as you will get them. The guide is in English.
Travelling Norway by camper is one of the best ways to see the country and one of the easiest to get wrong — and most of the expensive mistakes are made before the trip starts, when the vehicle is chosen.
This is the long guide in the range. It covers the vehicle and the decision to hire or bring your own; the roads, tunnels, passes and the winter tyre law that treats a motorhome as a special case three separate times; the service routine for water, waste and gas; electricity and what solar actually delivers this far north; shops, Sunday closing and Vinmonopolet; children, dogs and access; breakdowns; and how to build a daily budget out of numbers you can check rather than ones we invented.
Tolls, ferries and the rules on where you may sleep have their own guides. This one summarises each in two pages, points you there, and spends its length on everything else.
Questions
Does this repeat the tolls guide and the overnight guide?
No. Tolls, ferries and where you may legally sleep each have their own guide, and this handbook summarises each in two pages and points you there. The rest of its length goes on everything those two do not cover — the vehicle, the roads, the services, the seasons and the costs.
Is it only for large motorhomes?
It is written for motorhomes and campervans of any size. Where a rule turns on weight — and in Norway several do, at 3,500 kg and at 7,500 kg — the handbook says which side of the line you are on and why it matters.
How current is it?
Edition 2026.2 was first checked on 25 September 2026 and revised on 7 October 2026, against Lovdata for the law and against the responsible authority for everything else. Every figure, date and rule carries its source and the day it was read, and later editions are included with your purchase.
What if a source would not say?
Then the handbook says so. Several genuinely useful answers in it are "not found — check before you go", including the gas-connector question and whether a foreign disabled parking badge is valid. We would rather print the gap than fill it.
